Product Manager - Autopilot
Blend is a diverse team of problem solvers who believe that the world’s financial resources should be more accessible. Our cloud banking platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to acquire more customers, increase productivity, and deliver end-to-end digital experiences. Our software enables our customers to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day, making it possible for consumers to reach their financial goals faster and lead better lives. Come do work that matters.
About the role
Autopilot is Blend's AI agent product for mortgage and lending operations. It works inside the lending workflow to take on the repetitive, high-volume tasks that drive cycle time, starting with in-product automation and extending toward deeper capabilities such as pre-underwriting. Autopilot is one of Blend's most important bets, with direct executive sponsorship and active co-development with some of the largest lenders in the country.
We are hiring a General Manager to own Autopilot as a business. You will define what the agents do, how their performance is measured, and how capabilities proven with individual customers become productized offerings that every customer can adopt. You will work hand in hand with our AI engineering team, our forward-deployed teams working directly with customers, and our go-to-market organization. You will report to our Head of Product, with direct exposure to the CEO and executive leadership.
What you will do
- Own the in-product Autopilot roadmap, prioritizing agent capabilities by their measurable impact on loan cycle time, cost per loan, and operations team productivity.
- Own Autopilot's commercial model: pricing and packaging across in-product, MCP, and solution-delivery offerings, and adoption at live customers so purchased capability becomes transacted volume.
- Turn learnings from forward-deployed customer engagements into generalized, productized capabilities, deciding what graduates from custom build to core product.
- Define the evaluation and quality framework for agent behavior: accuracy, guardrails, human-in-the-loop review, and auditability appropriate for regulated lending workflows.
- Partner with AI engineering on model, tooling, and harness decisions, and translate technical capability into a roadmap with clear customer outcomes.
- Work directly with design partner customers in discovery, pilot design, and rollout, and build the feedback loop from live production usage back into the roadmap.
- Define Autopilot's measurement and reporting story so customers can see the value the agents deliver, and so Blend can price and package with confidence.
- Support go-to-market with positioning input, demo narratives, and roadmap content for customer advisory board and executive audiences.
What you will bring
- 10 or more years of product experience, including leadership of an AI, ML, or automation product with real production usage and commercial accountability for its results.
Domain experience in mortgage, home equity, or consumer lending operations, with fluency in the loan lifecycle to be credible with lending executives. - Strong instinct for agent and LLM product design: evaluation, prompt and tool design, human-in-the-loop patterns, and knowing when a workflow is ready for autonomy.
- Comfort operating in a domain with high accuracy and compliance requirements, and designing products that earn trust from risk and operations stakeholders.
- A builder's posture: you prototype, you get into the data, and you use AI tools daily in your own work.
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers in discovery and pilots, and turning individual customer wins into repeatable products.
- Crisp written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to executives and customer leadership.
Nice to have
- Engineering background or a technical path into product, with credibility partnering with AI engineering teams.
- Experience in a forward-deployed engineering or solutions model.
- Familiarity with underwriting, income and asset verification, or loan quality processes.
Compensation:
- Base Salary Range: $163,000 – $191,000 (This applies to full time hires. Final offer determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience.)
- Bonus (if applicable): Eligibility is contingent upon both company performance against established goals and achievement of individual performance objectives.
- Equity : Meaningful Restricted Stock Units in public company stock (NYSE: BLND) so you share in Blend’s long-term growth and success.
