Autopilot Update: Bank Statement Checks, More Income Formats, and Borrower Request Controls
Autopilot now checks that bank statement balances add up, reads more paystub and verification of employment (VOE) formats, and gives lenders more control over automated borrower requests. Guideline references also reflect Fannie Mae’s October Selling Guide updates.

Bank statements are checked against their balances
What’s new: Autopilot now checks that a bank statement’s opening balance plus every transaction it reads equals the printed ending balance. If the balances don’t match, Autopilot flags the statement as incomplete and keeps the large-deposit review open.
Why it matters: A mismatch usually means transactions are missing from what Autopilot read. Flagging it helps prevent a large deposit from going unreviewed. A matching balance shows the transactions add up, not that each one was read correctly.
Example: A statement opens at $8,000 and closes at $14,500, but the transactions Autopilot read account for only $3,000 of the change. Autopilot flags the statement as incomplete and keeps the large-deposit review open.
Income calculated from more paystub and VOE formats

What’s new: Autopilot can now read earnings from more paystub and VOE formats, including earnings written as text and hours and pay combined in one cell. It also calculates year-to-date income from the actual pay period dates. Documents it cannot read are marked as unreadable rather than missing.
Why it matters: Autopilot can now process more income documents without manual data entry, and year-to-date calculations line up with the actual pay period. Calculated income is still presented for review by the loan officer or underwriter. If a document cannot be read, the borrower request asks for a clearer copy rather than a document the borrower already submitted.
Example: A borrower uploads a paystub with hours and pay in one column. Autopilot reads the earnings and calculates year-to-date income using the actual pay dates. If the scan is too blurry to read, the borrower request asks for a clearer copy of that paystub.

Updated guidelines and lender rules
What’s new:
- October Selling Guide: Autopilot’s Fannie Mae guideline references now reflect the October 7, 2026 Selling Guide update (Announcement SEL-2026-09).
- Guidelines retained during updates: If a Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac guideline page cannot be retrieved during an update, Autopilot keeps the previous version instead of dropping it.
- Credit scores in lender rules: Lender-specific rules, including minimum credit score requirements, can now use each borrower’s credit score and the loan’s lowest middle score. These rules can be configured via the Lender Overlay.
Why it matters: These changes keep guideline references current, keep the prior version available when a page cannot be retrieved, and let lenders apply their own rules using borrower-level and loan-level credit scores.
