Manager, Deal Desk
Blend is a diverse team of problem solvers who believe that the world’s financial resources should be more accessible. Our cloud banking platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to acquire more customers, increase productivity, and deliver end-to-end digital experiences. Our software enables our customers to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day, making it possible for consumers to reach their financial goals faster and lead better lives. Come do work that matters.
At Blend, we’re building a culture that feels energizing to be part of every day, where people choose to show up not just for work, but for each other. Our Raleigh office is a space where diverse perspectives are celebrated, collaboration comes naturally, and momentum is contagious. We bring people together often - whether to share ideas, celebrate wins, or simply connect - and we extend that connection beyond the office through thoughtfully planned team outings and social gatherings that help our community grow stronger. Because we believe that strong teams fuel great innovation, we invest in experiences that make working together both meaningful and enjoyable. If you thrive in an environment that’s inclusive, dynamic, and full of genuine human connection, you’ll feel right at home here.
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Manager, Deal Desk with a strong background in SaaS paralegal work to join our team.
In this role, you won't just be "managing deals"- you will be the primary architect of our contract negotiation process. Your mission is to own the redline process from start to finish, significantly reducing our sales team's reliance on the Legal department for standard commercial negotiations. You will serve as the bridge between Sales, Finance, and Legal, ensuring deals move through the pipeline with speed, precision, and high integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Ownership & Redlining: Lead the negotiation and redlining of complex SaaS agreements, including MSAs, Order Forms, NDAs, and Data Processing Addendums (DPAs).
- Legal De-risking: Apply your paralegal expertise to identify and resolve common contractual hurdles (indemnity, liability, SLAs) within pre-approved guidelines.
- Process Optimization: Develop and maintain a "Negotiation Playbook" to standardize responses to common customer objections and legal requests.
- Training & Coaching: Mentor and train junior Deal Desk analysts and Account Executives on best practices for contract review and deal hygiene.
- Approval Workflow: Manage the end-to-end deal approval process, ensuring all stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Product) provide timely input.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or Legal Operations, specifically within the B2B SaaS industry.
- Paralegal Background: Proven experience as a Paralegal or Contract Manager, with a deep understanding of commercial contract law and SaaS revenue recognition.
- Technical Redlining Mastery: Expert-level ability to redline contracts independently and explain legal risks in "plain English" to non-legal stakeholders.
- Leadership: Experience coaching or managing others; you should enjoy teaching others how to "spot the traps" in a contract.
- Tooling: High proficiency in Salesforce (SFDC) and CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) software (e.g., Ironclad, Conga, or PandaDoc).
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, quarter-end environment.
Why This Role is Unique
Unlike traditional Deal Desk roles that focus primarily on pricing and SKU management, this position empowers you to be the commercial legal authority for the Sales organization. You will have the autonomy to make decisions that directly impact our velocity and bottom line.
Our Goal: To create a "self-serve" environment where Sales can close standard deals without waiting in a legal queue, thanks to your guidance and systems.
