Software Engineer, Backend - Configuration Platform

Remote Engineering

Blend helps lenders maximize their digital agility. Our digital lending platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and other leading financial institutions to increase customer acquisition, improve productivity, and accelerate the delivery of any banking product across every channel. We process more than $3.5 billion in mortgages and consumer loans daily, helping millions of consumers get into homes and gain access to the capital they need to lead better lives.

The Configuration Platform team is building the next generation of the Blend platform. It is a platform on top of which banks can create their own unique user experiences via a drag-and-drop interface. It generalizes all of the Blend offerings - including features we’ve built in the past to automate assets, income, rates, fees, credit, and documents data collection, as well as features that automate reminders, notifications, e-signatures requests, etc. - for all consumer finance transactions. This platform supports a fully user-defined data model, fully configurable workflow experiences, and fully user-designed features without requiring our customers to write any code.

The work on this team is extremely design-heavy and technically challenging. We need to remain rigorous on the generalities of this platform while giving users access to impactful features that make Blend a valuable tool to our customers. These requirements often mean we spend a lot of time refining our designs to ensure, simultaneously, maximum flexibility and usability. The technical concepts and tools we work with are wide-ranging, but include state machines, configurable data models, configurable data mappings, user-defined data transformations, UI-driven API builders, configurable events pipelines, and template driven user interfaces.

We are scaling this team to be able to handle all of the challenges that we need to tackle as we build out more and more functionalities for the config platform. We’re looking for engineers who have a strong interest and background in software design, work well with other engineers, designers, and product managers, deal well with uncertainties, and are driven to relentlessly find solutions to difficult problems.
